Pre-op.......not only did I have to prepare my own self, I had to prepare my family.
I bought alot of easy-to fix meals for them..to get me thru the first month.
For myself, I stocked up on mostly protein choices - bullets, unflavored protein powder, Nectar Protein powder, and a chocolate protein powder. I also got some soups. My plan was to fix the soup as directed, then strain out the noodles, etc.. I could give the bulk of the soup to my daughter and I would drink the broth. This worke ... |

| Hunger Issuses |
If.. Anyone has a Hunger issue.. There is nothing that says you cant eat.. Just be carefull in your selection ! Instead of cookies and candy.. Go for a few pieces of fresh fruit, or veggies.. even a small portion of nuts works !! This doesn't have to be torture !

| What made you choose VSG? |
I chose it because my main issue is hunger and it is more likely to cure that than a lap band or RnY. Weight loss is similar to RnY but complications are similar to lap band.
Finally, as a self-pay, the lack of long term complications is appealing. |
| How many polls have you filled out? |
I've filled out two. I can't fill out more until I get closer to my surgery. |
| What was the MAIN reason why you chose YOUR surgeon? |
| I picked reputation/experience because any surgeon I picked would have to be experienced and have a good reputation. But out of the handful that met my standards, I picked Dr. Cirangle because I think we'd get along really well and that's important with WLS -- there is so much more follow-up and interaction with the surgeon than there is with other surgeries. |
| Nausea/Reflux? |
I haven't suffered any nausea, but I suffer from acid reflux from time to time. I had a mild case of acid reflux before surgery and the same foods still cause me to acid reflux. Most of the time it's not bad enough to take a acid blocker, but I have noticed that I can't drink crystal lite and go to bed without waking up with the bile burning the back of my throat.

| Worst Stall? |
| My stalls happen when I'm in the 600 calorie/day range. My body just stores everything. Now when I stall, I bump my calories for a couple of days up to 900 - 1000 then the weight starts dropping again and I drop back to 600 range. I think it's that starvation reflex that raven_lunatic was writing about. Guaranteed, though, when the scale is stuck the tape measure isn't - I always lose inches during a stall! |
